What size hooks do you use for catching sunfish?

Size 8! Every now and then a size 6!

Size 6 for me sickle hook is my favorite I like criket hooks but sometimes it seems like they do not have enough gape so I prefer the sickle type

If the fish are aggressive enough and large enough, a #6 jig hook is fine with slightly larger plastics. I believe most predator fish instinctually attack lures in a lure range they find worth attacking.

Size 8 flies for me.

I usually use a size 6. I also use a size 8 every now and then.

Size 6...Eagle Claw with the longer shaft to be able to get more night crawler on...also easier to remove from fish.

I carry even hook sizes (10,8,6,4 and 2) in the gold Aberdeen pattern. For sunfish my default is number 8. If the fish are small I use a number 10. If the fish are running larger and swallowing too many hooks I use a number 6. The larger sizes are for crappie.

10 bait fishing for minnows.

6 or 4 if fishing for the frying pan.

I chose other due to the fact I do not target sunfish. When I do catch them they are usually on a size six hook on a crappie jig. I have also caught sunfish on larger hooks while fishing for bass and catfish.

I am with Smithaven I carry all of them except for #10. I normally use 6s and 4s. If the fish are big I will push 2s.

Size 6 is my max 90% of time for targeting just Sunfish.

#6 Aberdeen or long shank 8

I use number 2 bass drop shot hooks. Mustad.

If I'm on good fish I go with a #4.

But a #6 is a great all around time hook.

I've gone to 1/64 oz jig heads for fishing for sunfish.
REALLY helps to reduce the fish taking it deep.
