I just bought this boat in Feb. Its an 06 model bought new rigged with 07 Motor. I cant seem to be able to trim the boat all out with 2 ppl.
I have tried different props. It has even been back to the factory to be checked and they say its fine.
Once i get above 5k RPMs it starts bouncing. As long as i stay around 4800 RPMs its fine.
Is this normal for Xpress boats with the Hyper-Lift hull? Should i be able to trim this boat out all the way?
I cant seem to get a straight answer from my dealer, and am wondering if i have a problem boat.
Please any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

try a cupped prop. or have your current props tips cupped (curled)
the yamaha alum. prop is a semi cleaver design, they have very little cup in the tips. which causes your type of problem.
the bouncing is call porpoising. it's from the prop lifting the boat then dropping it, lifting, dropping, etc.

I have a X-19 with a 200 Yamaha.Like Steve said ,I run a 4-blade with pretty good cup on it and I put a 6" jack-plate on mine and it performs great.I get no porposing now.You can go to sites on X-press boats and read the different ways people are rigging them. You can come up with a solution.Good Luck.

Thanks guys.
I will look into getting a more cupped prop. I have a SS prop...Power Tech i think. One is 19 pitch the other is 17. I cant really tell a difference in the two.
I was also told a jackplate would'nt really help me any due to me having a small motor. I thought about going that route too.
What do you guys recommend on a prop for the cup or how can i tell by looking at one that it has more cup than another?

I noticed today that my cavitation plate on the motor is about 2.5 inches higher than the bottom of the boat. Dont know if thats good or bad.
I was thinking on trying a 21 pitch prop too. I get an outstanding holeshot with the 19 so i was thinking a 21 would still give me decent holsshot and good topend.
Thoughts on this setup?

normal to have the cav. plate higher than the pad of the boat.
you can't dictate prop pitch based on holeshot. you have to go by max rpms.
since you already have a couple of powertech props. look on the side of the barrel. there will be a part number there. post the part number and i'll tell you what you have.
something like a ym90red19p ??? if this is the one you have, it's the wrong one. it can be helped but, the 4 blade rxb is a better prop for that boat.

I have the same boat and motor and mine planes real fast. I am 180lbs and my dad is 220lbs. He says that it planes as fast as his Ranger. This is my first boat so I don't know much about props and I couldnt tell you what kind I have or why mine planes so fast. I can say that it must not be typical of the boat and motor.
Where punters are punted.

Steve,
the model number looks like it says PTR3R178ym90. Cant really tell if its an 8 or S the way its etched on the prop.
Also...do you think my boat would benifit from going to 21 pitch?
The dealer here says that the 90 wont turn the 21. Said i would be lucky to get 4500 RPM out of it.

the 8 is actually an "S" it stands for satin finish.
the 17 or 19 is the way to go. the 21 will be too much pitch.
the ptr is similar to the mercury alum. black max prop. not a bad blade, but they are known for not having enough cupping in the tips. there are better props out there.

Thanks Steve for all the help.
Now i get to go hash it out with my dealer again. It seems that they bondoed the pad to try to correct the porpoising and now the bondo is flaking off.
Just one thing after another...i should have gotten a glass boat.
