I am interested in getting a longer jig pole to try. I primarily fish w/ a 7 or 8' Bonehead or a 8' pro angler. I own several 9-10' rods of various brands (Pro angler, wally marshall etc) but don't like the feel of them. I stopped at place yesterday that had a lot of different brands to try. I felt a jenko, acc, ozark, b'n'm sam heaton, b'n'm double touch and didn't like any of them. I want to put my hands on a Todd Huckabee or a G-Rod to see if I could missing out. Has anyone tried these that could compare them to the others?

You make a good point Brian, and I did have a reel. I bass fished most of my life with high end rods and just don't like a heavy clunky jig pole. I my have unrealistic expectations but don't want to settle until I'm sure.

Where did you find all those different brand rods together? If you want to go very light, try a 10 ft Ozark rear reel seat with a BnM ultralight reel which is just a line holder basically.Very light and sensitive but you wont horse a fish in either.

There is this guy on here he goes by " crappiecat"... I think he is a vampire because be only post at night...any way, he will be along shortly with all the rear seat knowledge and wisdom you could hope for.
The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

[quote=Duck_Jerky]If you are looking for a true "rear" seat jig pole...they are going to feel very "unbalanced" without a reel on them...simply because of where the reel seats on to the rod. B'n'M has a couple that I fish with...
Duck Jerky, has knowledge on this subject to be sure, and in no way will I second guess his advice, but I have been trying to dial in such a rod and have got to an answer that works very well, for me.
Ok, so for the last three years I have been dialing in a long rod and have found what I consider the perfectly balanced rear seat rod combo. Without going into all the details, and rods I tried, I will simply tell you the 10.6 G-Rod, rear seat paired with a 4000 Shimano Stradic (older metal model). Is perfectly balanced at the palm swell. It is balanced as well as any short rod I have set up...you can fish it comfortably (I am very picky about this point) all day, without all the long rod bulk or clumsy feel normally reserved for any rod over 8 feet. In fact the balance point on this rod/reel combo is so accurate, you can balance it on one finger for as long as you would like....it has become one of my favorite setups because it has some real backbone, although, I would prefer a bit faster tip, similar to my Black Boneheads. Try it, if you dont like it, I will buy from you...basically saying, I will put my money where my mouth is on this setup. Hope this information is helpful!
Hey Troy, saw it last week...and I think I gave him some sensitivity testing as well!
