He was from Zanzibar, an island off the coast of Tanzania.

Theyve been trying to get this film made for a long time but theres been a lot of complications

The same can be said about a biopic on Jimi Hendrix which would be a trip through Awsometown!

they made one about Hendrix that was awful, although the actor that played Hendrix was spot on, they had troubles with music rights & didn't play any Jimi Hendrix music, which kinda sealed its fate

The Hendrix estate has been a mess for years with all the relatives suing each other. Consequently, licensing and copyrights are in a stalemate

Im certainly no fan of his lifestyle or choices but from a pure entertainment aspect he was one of, if not the best front men, singers of his era.

His music was fine, but that doesnt make his personal life interesting to me. Just another short lived performer that is most likely remembered greater in death than in life. Ill pass on the movie.

Dont know. But, I dont think the AIDS sneaks up on someone like a heart attack or something. He was probably aware of the AIDS for a while. Then again, Im no AIDS expert. Someone else needs to answer this.

He knew he was dying. He was diagnosed with HIV in the 80s and died in the 90s.

Without googling it I believe you're correct. Seems like I remember 1991-1992..
The very first time I watched the band was on a TV show late one Saturday night, midnight special I think.. I had listened to the band on the radio a lot mid 70's locally on the ZOO, KZEW with Roadie and lobelia. I remember when I did see them, I thought, WHAAAAAAT....I'll watch the movie, Freddie was a wild one for sure...

The dude was an absolute one of a kind talent - I could listen to him all day and night and then some. Who knows how a movie is going to pan out on any subject, but you've got as good of a starting point with Freddie Mercury as you would with anything.
