I launched my boat, parked my vehicle, and noticed my left bunk was broken in half. The cause was wood rot, due to the idiotic choice of using untreated wood. Its a 2012 Tracker Targa 18. I had my buddy check his and his also has untreated wood that starting to give.

Check your bunks regardless of brand! I've seen this on Ranger, Skeeter, etc.

Crazy stuff. I wouldnt use untreated wood for fence rails, much less something for marine use

If you use an aluminum boat in saltwater, you shouldn't use wood bunks with carpet. After a while, the salt can eat thru your boat bottom. Happened to a neighbor's custom 19' jon. "Engineered Material" or some kind of plastic works best, and should drain after washing down. I use PVC conduit to support my little tin skiff. IslandJm

The arsenic used in treated wood can cause pinhole leaks in aluminum hulls. I put Ultimate Bunkboards on my Magic Tilt trailer. It was around $300 for 4 pieces, but I'll never buy bunk boards again. As always, buy once, cry once.

I had to replace mine (Tracker) at 2 years. Wife backed me into the water and drove off to park. One bunk completely fell off, other barely hanging on with one screw. Immediate fix was lashing them down with sections cut off the anchor line. Replaced with Ultimates, and quite satisfied with them. Slipperier than hot greased snot. No screws, countersunk stainless bolts, nylock nuts.
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Ultimate bunks are great, but you have to stick with your routine and not get distracted or you'll have a boat sitting in the middle of the ramp. Don't unhook until the trailer is IN the water. When I launch, I run a dock line through a bow chock and take a few wraps around the winch post and unhook the winch strap. Then I walk back, start the motor and put it in forward gear to keep it on the trailer, go up and take the dock line off of the winch post, walk back to the console, take it out of gear and the boat slides off the trailer. Trailering is just the opposite. The trick is to leave it in gear to keep the boat from sliding back.

Treated lumber can react with aluminum through the carpet. Recently changed the bunks on my Tracker and did use treated lumber but attached Super-Slide Blue Iron runners on them instead of using carpet. Hull is away from the wood and they dry a lot faster as well.

Lost my bunks on 2015 tracker. Wood rotted and bolts fell out.

Ultimate Bunk boards will solve rotting out problems, not cheap on the initial investment but once and done. I've had the current set in daily use for the past 14 years.
