On the Saturday before our annual Memorial Day weekend trip to the Brazos River J-Moe and I loaded up the yaks and hit the road. It is a two hour drive or more from home to the river below Lake Whitney dam. On the road by 5AM puts us well down river by 8AM looking for fish. The fishing was great but the catching started slow and ended with a bang.. J-Moe got his fly rod record sunfish he was after and I hooked up with two very big river bass and a "on the fly" trophy sized long-nose gar. It takes a good bit of extra effort but the rewards are well worth the sore muscles and sunbaked hide. This trip solidified the Brazos river as one of the richest fisheries in the whole state of Texas. https://youtu.be/Pbr4DP_YONM

Love The Brazos Fact is the bigger the bait the bigger the fish on The Brazos. This is from 3 weeks ago.

I've got it in my head to do the Yegua Saturday thinking I'm gonna find lots of bass willing to take a big hairy bass bug.. Who would like to join me? Daybreak departure from Nails Creek Park boat ramp (nearest to 6am as I can get)

Tying & development of BBB (Big Bass Bugs) to prepare for another run at the Brazos but first the Yegua looking for big bass of the creek only if I can get the rest of the world off my back by Saturday.. I am tired of the plug-in version problems with viewing videos within TFF so I simply linked the photo below. Click on it to see the video.

Ben's taxi service had to deliver a fare all the way up to Fort Worth so my arrival time at the river was delayed until nearly noon. The river trip started with a bang as a very nice bass crushed my freshly tied bass bug. The rest of the hot day on the river was nice but not very eventful.
