I have rented a house on the beach for the family for a 4 day weekend in July. Id like to take some surf rods I inherited for my FIL and do some fishing with my boys while we are there. We are staying on the gulf side of the beach. Could I get some recommendations on the type of bait we should use and how to rig the lines and what type of fish we could possibly catch. We are not targeting any specific type of fish just something for the boys to reel in.Thanks in advance.

If youre using live bait, freelining croaker in the 2nd gut on an incoming tide works well. Or you can chunk plastics too on a heavier jig head.
Have fun!
