Had Paul Anderson and his crew out for a little sandbass fishing. The fish on Eagle Mountain are finally getting where they are suppose to be. We caught 70 for a fry. All fish caught on slopes in 23 to 30 fow. All fish caught on chartuese and white ole uglies. Got some during the week opening and some weekend in June. Fish are just now turning on in Eagle Mountain. Give me a call at 817-597-6598 before it gets too hot. Johnny

Been getting calls asking about the sandbass spawn. It is super late, cold fronts have done a number on them. About half of the fish I am cleaning still has eggs. Johnny

I have not been having any luck shallow. Been catching on slopes 22 to 30 ft. Does not surprise me since the shad have been spawning. But they are moving to deep water on the slopes and humps. Water was 72 degrees when I finished trip yesterday. Johnny

Johnny, a buddy of mine were out on Eagle Mountain yesterday as well in a small blue nitro... and it did not hit me till I saw this post, I believe we were next to you and there was another older gentleman in another boat on the other side of you. If that was you, then here goes a plug lol...
We were out there for awhile and caught two fish while I watched, who I now think was you with a group reeling them in one after another... My buddy asked what we were doing wrong, and I pointed over and said we are not with that guy lol...
They were all having a lot more fun than we were, and that is proof of a good guide. Well done sir.

That was me on the other side of Johnny. I dont who this older guy is you talk of!
It was a tough day to be sure. They were moving around in small schools. Although, I did not catch many myself, for a while I could tell when Johnnys group were about to get a couple. I would see a school under me then in a couple of minutes they would pull up a couple. Pretty cool.
As for what he is using in his post above, go to his website and check out his slabs and flies. The are what I use 90% of the time.
