Technology that allows visualizationof the stones is now available. They turn the stones to sand using a lazer on the end of the scope.

I had to read it 3 times fast, but I got it! Visualizationof would be a good Scattergories answer.

Man I feel for you. Passed multiple ones over the years. Have tried the Flowmax, didn’t really help me. Strong pain killer, few beers, and lots of water seem to be about the best remedy. When I say strong I don’t mean no Tylenol 3 BS. Find a doc that will write some hydro’s or percocets.

Get ready if they have to go in after them. For a couple of days it will feel like your holding a flame thrower when you go peee. I called the little nurse who walked me to the restroom the first time a sadistic b&@ch for giggling the whole trip down the hall and back and not warning me ahead of time.

I've passed 2 smaller ones in the last year and I don't have any desire to try to pass a larger one.

Drink lots and lots of water or any liquid for that matter. Shoot for 3L day.
Cut down on all meat including fish (uric acid) (also the factor in gout)
Cut down on oxyalate containing foods.
Cut down on salt.
Watch the calcium (but It binds with oxalates) which makes this challenging.

Enjoy your new no fun eating goals.

No charge. Consult you healthcare professional.

This along with Flomax and a hot tub of water. Just had stone #12 last month. Lasted longer than 24 hours so I went to the ER. CT scan showed it was only 3mm and almost to my bladder. Passed it a few hours later. Stone #11 was 12mm and they had to go get it by ureteroscopy, was not a pleasant surgery.

Urologist initially thought dehydration was the cause for all my stones but now thinks it might be something else so running a series of test on my urine.

Oh so fun getting old. What TR said is spot on.

The vast majority of stones are the result of a non cancerous growth on one of your parathyroid glands. This is not well known, even in medical circles. I researched the devil out of this because my wife kept suffering them. There has been a technique developed to locate which one of your four glands this is affecting so it can be removed in what is usually a day surgery. There is a group at UT Southwest Medical that specializes in this. The Charles and Jane Pak Center for Mineral Metabolism and Clinical Research.

I know this might sound like so much BS, but it's not. My wife hasn't had a single recurrence since she had the procedure done about 5 years ago.

I take a shot of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar with some water about once every other week, no problem.

Never had one, never want one. We give Morphine or Dilaudid for the pain.

Or it tells you the positive outcome of birth is worth the labor pain.
