 Bass and the Perdernalis

Have hooked some nice bass on my trips to the Perdernalis River this spring. Most casting Wooly Buggers.

I'm heading that way myself in a couple of weeks. Hope to have the kind of luck you are having. By the way, CodyDog, there is going to be a group of us from the Fiberglass Flyrodders forum and the Ultralight Flyfishing forum meeting at the city park in Mason. My party will be arriving on May15 and staying until May 20. Others will be coming in on the 18th. Come join us if you can.

Very nice catch! The Pedernales is one of the most underrated rivers in the state. Maybe that's a good thing since that means less pressure and crowds. It is usually very wadeable for long stretches and has great public access through the state parks in Blanco, LBJ, and the Falls. It's also loaded with fish, including some of the best carp fishing in the state. If you can get a carp to bite in that crystal clear water, you can do it anywhere.

Yes, the Perdernalis is underrated. My spot is towards the Fredericksburg area. Lot's of bass and tons of carp. Have yet to catch a carp. Shallow wading and great visibility.
