You bet it does. Held for hours yesterday in this wind on Bridgeport. All on batteries that hadn't been charged in two trips. I have no idea how we all fished before this magnificent invention.

I hate the battery holder in the remote. I have a hard time securing the batteries to function properly. Any advice to help?

Mine works great just wish the deployment was better. X 1000. That is the only negative I really have.

As stated above, the remote is a piece of trash. First, the batteries get loose in it pretty often. Have to take it apart on a regular basis and bend the tabs in so it will hold the batteries more securely. If you start getting erratic control with the hand remote the batteries are loose. Second, the remote has no display on it like the minn kota. If you have never used a minn kota remote you probably will not mind, but if you have used a minn kota remote you will hate the motorguide remote.
The install plate on the XI5 is pretty cheap and offers very little room for error. They should have made the base a half inch wider on each side to allow for a more secure and easier mounting process. Lastly, after you mount your XI5 you need to go get some blue loctite and put it on each of the side plate screws. They are horrible about working themselves loose going down the road. I've lost one and getting a replacement for it is not easy and very expensive.
If you were to ask me if I recommend the XI5 I would have to say no. Having owned both, I think MinnKota makes a vastly superior product. I will keep my XI5 until it blows up I guess but only because installing a trolling motor on my boat is a horrible pain in the rear and I'm sure I couldn't get half of what I paid for it.
