Took a extra Blue Barrel and built a tank, 800 gph pump into the filter tower. added 1100 gph aerator pump for oxygen. Filter Tower is filled with different grades of filter material including charcoal, ammonia filter material. they are cut round to fit tower and can be rinsed and reused several times.Hooked to timers and is 30 gal. Have kept shad for 4 days with no problem. looking at wrapping the tank with insulation to keep cooler in warm weather although worked fine last summer. Have no Idea why it turned the pics sideways.

How quickly do you have to get shad in there and how do you transport them to the tank? When I get some and throw them in a bucket they are dead within 5 mins usually.

Get you an aerated bucket from academy and they'll stay alive until you can get them in a bait tank

Good job. Thanks for sharing.
I wanted a long(er) term bait tank, so I setup my stock tank with marine metal products 110 air bubbles and a floating aerator with an ammonia filter. So far, so good. Some sort of filter is definitely required if someone is planning to keep hair longer than a couple days. I’ve had great results using quiet bubbles and styrofoam ice chests, but I needed something larger.
I have a couple barrels like you used. Maybe I should set them up like yours. Putting them in the ground would help keep cool
If you can either quickly or quietly switch out shells, you can bring home almost anything.
