 Ultrex heading sensor wiring

Wiring the heading senor to an ultrex do you put it on a switch or wire it always on? Does it have to be turned on every time you deploy the ultrex? How are other people doing this. Thanks for any help.

Always on on my last boat and switched on this boat.....no difference, really, either way.

I wired mine into a constant hot. The only time the heading sensor comes on is when you turn on your trolling motor power switch.
