I ran across this guy this evening and he assured me that my green pumpkin brush hog was the right color to be throwing. I didnt think to put a brush hog next to it at the
Time but its almost an exact match

I've done well with a speed craw when the crawfish are that size too.

Excellent. This Crayfish show up in Lake Conroe? Was it up a creek or out on the main lake?
Very small Claws and looks similar to the Scrimp Crayfish. The pincers do not grow bigger and the Bass love that.

Funny we always throw baits with huge craws when the real deals aren't ever like that

This is a rare find on this species. It is the only species like it and not many of them. All the rest have the larger claws. You can set Crayfish traps in 3 different areas of the lake 2 miles apart and catch 3 different colors and sizes. Depending on what you catch determines the colors and sizes you throw to mimic that forage.

I read where they did a study and found that the fish preferred crawfish that had there claws missing over the ones that had them. Makes sense, those things hurt if they get hold of you. One of these days I am going to remember that and try it when I am on the lake and tear the claws off my plastics.
