Ok I was wanting to make me a spincast finesse setup and was wanting your tips or opinions on your setups. I was thinking main line braid and have a leader for my finesse baits. Would 20lb braid be too much or should I just down it to 10lbs? Thanks for any help and tips

Let the water clarity and cover that you are fishing around determine you line size. Never go to light. I hate to hear those stories of the one that got away. "Well, She made one more run next to the boat and broke me off". Sad deal, to loose a fish of a live time; because when you least expect it, you are elected.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

You don't mean "spincast" I don't think. That is a closed-face reel like a Zebco. A Spinning tackle finesse setup should typically be 10 lbs. braid to either 6 or 8 lbs. fluorocarbon.

Yes, you could use 20 lbs. braid but you give away so much of the advantage and reason you are using spinning tackle. 10 lbs. will handle anything you run into where finesse is your presentation choice

I caught a 4-1/4 kicker today on a medium light rod, 10lb Braid and a 4 lb leader.

Any line can be good, just make sure the drag is set accordingly and don't rush the fish to the net.

I use 20# braid to an 8# fluoro leader all last year. This year I put another rod in the boat with 10# braid. I really don't like it and will eventually change it to 20# also. The only negative I have found with 20# is if you have micro guides. The knot to your leader has to be perfect or it snags it sometimes.

I really appreciate the info and tips and definitely put them in a good setup. I have 20lb braid but didnt want to open it yet bc I was thinking 10lb also.

Ive got 10# braid with 10# flouro leader about 20 foot long. It keeps the proper action on your bait and the long leader leaves you less prone to getting broken off at the knot. With a long leader like that you can have as heavy a braid as you like, really. I just stick with 10.

If you can't find em wind em.

I would stay away from spincast reels; spinning gear is superior IMO. Get a 7' spinning rod rated to 1/2 ounce (example Dobyns 702) and a Daiwa LT series reel. I use 15# powerpro with a lighter leader material, either 8 or 10# fluoro

10# braid can be used but only with a very high quality spinning reel with great line lay.
