I'm visiting some family in Mexia and have a day to fish before moving to my next location.
I can fish Mexia, Limestone or the river north of Fort Parker (where I'm spending two nights)
Trying to decide which lake I should target, and then what the boating hazards I should know about are.
Any thoughts?

I would try the river with a bobber rig setup using minnows or Jigs! I think it`s the Navasota

That sounds right, I know there is a boat ramp up there that can be accessed from within the park. I just didnt know how deep it is.. I can ask the rangers I suppose, but I have a large bass boat. The lake itself at Fort Parker I understand to be extremely shallow.

Anything under 22' you should have no problem getting launched back there. The ramp is pretty good!

So I went to the river at fort Parker state park.
The boat ramp was nice, the River is deep but I didn't catch anything, not even a nibble.
The next day I went limestone and caught a few small crappie, but nothing much to speak of.
