I am considering getting a Lew’s baitcasting reel as a birthday present for my adult son. He will also be getting a G Loomis rod as well (MH/F power). What would be the best model Lew’s reel to go with this rod for under $150 or so? He is very adept at using baitcasting equipment, and it will be used for a variety of techniques (worms, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, etc). Thanks

Mach Crush. You also can get them significantly cheaper on eBay than anywhere else. If you're not dead set on Lew's look into the Shimano Curado K on eBay as well for similar pricing.

Thanks call Ron at Reel Time Rods on lake fork he sells them and will be real honest to your question.

I'd go with the Tournament MB as well.

https://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com seems to have the best prices on Lew's. Not sure how they are so much cheaper. Just add to cart to see the actual price. I just got Super Duty G ($140) a few weeks ago and its my favorite reel. Second favorite is the Lew's lite at $189. I think the Tournament MB is only about $100 on the site, but the Super Duty grips are far more comfortable and worth the $40 difference.

Well, I checked prices and the best price I could find right now was on eBay, $109 for the Tournament MG. I went ahead and ordered it. I will go right by an Academy on the way home tomorrow, so I will check prices for me one there.
By the way, thanks to everybody for taking time to offer your suggestions. I have been a pureblood Shimano guy since I bought my first old green Curado Bantam back when they first came out. So I don’t know much about the new Lew’s reel lineup. My son mentioned wanting to try a Lew’s a few times lately while we were fishing, so happy birthday!

Are any of you old enough to know what company made the original Lew's Speed Spools??? I am and owned two of them but they finally worn out the gears inside and Lew Childress and Shimano has split so gears were no longer available. Yes, Shimano made the first Lew's reels. Sure wish I had a couple of new ones like originally built.
