I just re rigged my setup here's the version of the Santee Cooper rig I will use first it has a spinning reel and a rod then 25 lb berkley trilene big game as the main line .next I have a team catfish sinker slide followed by a sinker bumper then I tied it with a Palomar knot to a big brass barrel swivel and tied to that I have 80 lb last king leader line and tied to that I have a 2/0 eagle claw Brass swivel with a safety snap followed by a snelled team catfish double action circle hook 8/0 that is tied to a 80 lb last king leader line with a loop at the end so I can attach it to my snap swivel then I put on a 3 inch peg foat and by the way all the knots are Palomar knots

That size, style of snap will cots you a big fish.the brass is to flimsey ,you can bend it with your fingernail.use a stronger snap.

Get rid of the float and swivel snap. And the brass barrel swivel.Get steel barrel swivels rated 50# or more. The 80# leader is fine but go to a 8 or 10/0 hook. Use a fist size chunk of shad or carp and you'll be set to catch a anything between a 3# eater and a 60#+ trophy Blue. Good Luck!

I agree with what everyone else here is saying, do NOT use any kind of snap if you are fishing for catfish, because the day will come when it causes you to lose you next personal best fish.
I also agree with PlanoJames said about the brass/steel swivels, the only time I use the brass ones is if I am using mono main line below 25 lbs, if I am using 40lbs mono+ or braid I use steel.
I'm just in search of a way of not coming home smelling like the devils armpit.....

Why not stick with the tried and true rigs that are commonly used? Seems you posted a rig before with snaps and we all told you they were worthless....
Palamor or similar knot to your barrel swivel 12-24 inch leader with cigar float and snail knot to the hook....done, no need to change anything.

I'm fine with Palomar knots on your connections but I would use a snell knot for circle hooks. Ditto on no snap swivels and I like cigar floats
