I just watched the lastest episode mlf on lake Murray. Question I know when they weigh fish they have it on pound and ounces which would say the pound dash then ounces, not pound decimal then number.

Did y’all see the guy with Casey Ashley was werighing on the decimal which cheats him out of ounces and or pounds by the end of the day?

Just saying did y’all notice that?

I'd enjoy the show better if they let them ride around longer and formulate a plan rather than fish by guessing.

Also, I am surprised people don't spend 15-30 of the first period riding around IF they don't feel comfortable with what they've found in the 15 min ride around.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the show. But dang, I can go out for the time they do and pull out 6-8 fish for 12 pounds total. I want to see how they do something more advanced than we do, like learn a lake in a couple of days and zero in on what the fish are doing to the point they can locate enough fish to have a nice 5 fish stringer. Would be a nice change of pace, IMO.

I hear what ya saying autiger. When fishing today I thought a good one time show for mlf.
would be show up somewhere they don’t know of and hand them a paper map of the lake and not let them use graphs all day and see how they perform?!

I thought I saw it flash BOTH, ounces first, then decimal. But yes, I did notice the decimal value...

I've thought of that as well, but allow them to only use a Flasher.

As long as they covert hundredths of a pound to ounces at the end of the day, it is fair.

I watched the episode but missed the change in units. It seems like a common thing when discussing weights among buddies..... hyphens where decimals should go. I find it bizarre we are still messing with ounces but I guess some traditions are just hard to let go of.

I weighed a fish for a boat last weekend. I had to correct them a couple of times. It was 6.12 not 6-12. When it clicked, he said oh ok so it’s 6-2. He wanted to use ounces. That is how must of us seem programmed to think.

I thought I saw it too Carter, then I figured they wouldn't have let it get past editing if there were an EFF up on the referee's part that bad. Didn't Ashley miss the cut by only a few ounces?

Also, someone on here mentioned they convert tenths to ounces, Negative they DO NOT. Nor is there any reason to, I have that EXACT scale, it has the toggle between tenths and ounces (like most do). So, if it DID show the decimal point, Ashley got screwed. Period.

It sure looked that way to me. I'm watching it right now.

One fish was 3.62 lbs. Ref said 3 lbs 6 oz. Wrong .62 = 9.92 oz. So almost 10 oz. He got screwed out of at least 3 oz.

The next was 2.58. Ref said 2 lbs 5 oz.
.58 = 9.28 oz so this time he got screwed out of 4 oz.

Two fish = 7 oz

This is as far as I have made after noticing what was going on. Period 2 with 58 minutes left

He missed the cut by 5 oz. The 7 oz on those two fish alone would have put him into the next round.

lane 19-10
neal 14-05
poche 14-03
palaniuk 14-01
Ashley 13-13
faircloth 13-10
short 13-02
ponds 8-01

this was the end result. I seen atleast twice that the guy messed up the weighing of a fish. so definitely casey ashely got screwed. I have heard how much the entry is to enter MLF format and I beat casey is pissed to get knocked out that way. He should've atleast made it to the next round. I wonder how many other officials have made this mistake?
