It never said that it would be handled for less than the standard service fee either. Someone else just posted not long ago about sending in a G1 unit and they replaced it under warranty with a mega unit. I'd call and talk to someone else and see what answer you get or email them. An entire company shouldn't be judged by one employee. Not sure which brand you'll buy as I've heard bad things about the others also. This was me. I had a Helix 10 SI Gen 1 that quit while under warranty, no physical damage. It did get rained on the previous trip and due to water in the cover it appeared to have a bad seal. First problem I have had with a Humminbird after owning them for over 10 years and having been through 6-7 older units and now 3 Helix 10's. After reading through this thread I am really struggling with how damage like you show could be the fault of the manufacturer. You heard a pop, see plastic flying, and then are not sure if your bait hit the unit or not? Glad to hear you got it repaired. I am sure there are people who would gladly take it off you hands if you decide to make a change. I think he later stated that he caused it and wasnt blaming Humminbird for the damage just didnt want to pay their price which I didnt understand why he would pay it instead of repairing it himself for a few bucks

My experience was positive. I was 19, bought a low end unit for 299.00, but that was a ton of cash for me at the time 2 years into it, screen died. Call hummingbird, talk to tech, sent it in for tepair. Called me told me nothing was wrong, had to be wiring, sure enough I had a pinched wire. Sent it bacj to me no charge. Been a customer ever since.
