Over the last month I'm rotating through a natural color 1/2 ounce 6th Sense swim jig with a Keitech paddletail trailer, black/blue Hackney 3/8 ounce swim jig with a baby brush hog trailer, soft plastics and a Chatterbait. I'm on the same spot with the same fish and the biggest have come on the larger jig but then completely stop eating eat so I have to stay with it and rotate baits and/or slow down if they're not eating the bigger bait. I definitely believe in them. Those 6th Sense Divine swim jigs are great.

I have been using the Talon Swim Jigs, they have been the deal for me this year. I caught the big bass for boat captains in our school tournament on one this year and finished second three times on good fish on that bait. I also fished Monticello back in September and caught a 7 and 8.5 on that bait. Numerous other good fish I can't list. My numbers go down but the quality certainly goes up.

I've been tinkering with a swim jig the last few weeks. My hook up ratio is 0, but they are knocking the day lights out of it. I can't figure out if I'm reeling to fast or what? When they hit it it's an awesome thump, I'd just like to see the fish. Anybody got any tips to help hook ups? I assume you have added a trailer, if you add say a 4-5 inch paddle tail and get one or two short strikes CUT the skirt as short as the hook... you will not get a short strike again... I had never caught any fish on chatter baits, then one day I felt for sure I had two short strikes in a row, I trimmed the skirt and next cast fish on.. Every time I lost my chatter in some rocks that day and tied on a new one I got a short strike then trimmed skirt and got fish after trimming it. Ive since trimmed all my skirts. I hadn't even thought to trim the skirt. Yes I use a trailer 3.5 Cane Thumper. Are you just reeling it like a spinner bait?

I've personally never had luck on a swim jig. Maybe caught one on it my entire life. Underspins, swimbaits, and chatterbaits? My favorites lures in the world. Must be a mental thing.

Don't limit yourself to deep grass or deep timber. One of the deadliest techniques of all with a swim jig is throwing it in a foot of water and reeling it back as fast as you can on a 7:1 reel on heavy braid. Five or six fast cranks then pause for a split second all the way back to the boat. If you have scattered clumps of grass this is Lights Out for the fish.

Cant go wrong with the 6th Sense Divine or the Santone Swim Jig, both have really strong hooks and hold a trailer on them really well. As stated above, dont limit yourself to certain depths or times of the year, they are very diverse and can be a year round technique.

The Yuugyo has one NASTY hook on it, can handle being straight lined out of the junk with 65 lb braid. Doesn't matter how fast you reel it, if your trailer is on straight it wont roll over during retrieve. I fish it regularly on my home lake in the reeds, the fish absolutely hammer it!

I started throwing them on braid and it seems to be better, burn the [censored] out of them like others said and just a quick pause and burn. Boom.
Now I like the idea of trimming the skirt, good call.
