The current state record came from Lake Fork weighing in at 18.18 caught on 1-24-1992 by Barry St. Clair while crappie fishing with a live minnow.

"St. Clair caught the latest record-breaker while fishing for crappie in 42-foot water in a well-known crappie hot spot near the mouth of Little Caney Creek."

http://newsok.com/article/2383728

This record has been on the books for 25 years now. How long will it be until someone breaks this record? Where can or will it come from? Is this size a real freak of nature or could there possibly be more out there in our state?

If they closed all the boat ramps at fork for 2 years it would happen in the next 5. With all the traffic and constant pressure its going to be hard.

I think private waters stand the only chance of breaking the record in the near future.

I think it gets broke a few years after Marvin Nichols fills up, or maybe that new lake in Fannin co. will have a shot at it.

You have me confused with the Mark P. that can actually fish and that guides on Fork. I am the spare Mark P. that just enjoys fishing and being on the water. I am no guru at anything.

Mark Pack is who you are thinking of. cheers

I thought the Texas Share Lunker program was supposed to be the great equalizer?

So how many 18+ breakers are out there in our waters? More than 100 or less than 100 give or take? <-- if you had to estimate

Haha oh well, youve probably had your fair share of time on Fork!
