Have two Pflueger ultra lite reels. Reel retrieve line fine with no fish on the line. When you set the hook and start retrieving line the reel get hard to turn. Like the line is twisted around the tip on the pole. Have cleaned the and oiled the insides of the reels. Any idea on why this is happening?

The gears might need some grease or they could be bad and need to be replaced. If you got oil on the gears it could have mixed with what grease they had left on them and thinned it out which could cause the gears to bind. If the gears feel rough then they probably need to be replaced but if there smooth then they probably just need to be cleaned and re-greased.
