WOW, what a tournament. Fishing conditions were tough with fairly muddy water and Fork almost at full pool which makes fishing difficult with most of the timber under water. And a stout south wind didn't help. Fish were caught in all types of water, from shallow to timber in 25 FOW. Jigs in several colors were working. The predominate bait for the wife and I was the orange 2.5" Thermocline tadpole. Sherri caught a 1.99 and was closest to the 2.00 mark and got the check for $500. And she caught more fish than I did today, in fact over twice as many. However, as usual the crappie fisher people find the fish, and big fish. This year Crappiefest paid top 20 places for big fish and a 2.12 was 20th place. It was a very enjoyable and successful day for a lot of crappie fisher people. And yes, a 3.07 was weighed in by David Hurley worth $12,500. This year there were 363 entries including 23 juniors. The juniors weighed in right along with the adults and the smiles were plentiful. Great to see all these juniors learning the sport of crappie fishing. As mentioned earlier, CAT partnered with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition this year and used Crappiefest as a fund raiser for NOCC. $25 of every entry fee was donated to NOCC for cancer research. CAT is proud to announce over $8,200 was donated to NOCC. The tally from t-shirt sales and other give aways will be added to this amount. And a thank you to Mr Carppie, Wally Marshall, for all the prizes that were given away. A big thanks to all the people who came out and fished and donated to a very worthy cause.
Hope you are making plans to fish Carppiefest next year. CAT will start working on next year's event next week. Here's the leader board: Top 20 fish The closest too: first fish weighed in got the $500 and every fish after, that matched the exact weight received $200. And the junior anglers

So, I am disappointed that I didnt see more local guys up there...but I guess when those out of staters show up a week early, put in 10 hours a day and dial in on the crappie, they have a tactical lead over the work all day guys that know the water and just trust their areas to produce on game day, and I hate that...but based on the wind at my house, the winners deserve a big CONGRATULATIONS from me.

Congrats to all who cashed a check. You can follow the CAT weigh-ins live on the CAT Facebook page. Yesterdays event was shown live.
Weigh-ins for the other tournaments will be live on the CAT Facebook page. Between the candy corn music playing in the background and the flipped screen, was a little disappointing from a spectator's point of view.

Congrats to everyone who fished, the water was a little rough out there and the fishing was slow for us.
Thanks to everyone who helped us with advise, you know who you are. Also big thanks to all the volunteers who made this happen. It was a GREAT time.
