So for 20 plus years I've had zero success with a jig. No bites, no fish and zero confidence in them. Go to has always been the T-rig worm or brush hog. This year I have no confidence in that. Couple fish here and there, but I'm just not feeling it. So Friday halfway down this cove I decided to try the jig again. A few minutes later pitching to some brush and bam bam all heck breaks loose. 50 pound braid singing through the guides as drag is screaming. Brush is getting ripped up. Finally get her in. 7lb 5oz. The rest of the day yielded 2 over 4 and 4 over 3 on the jig. Felt really good to break the jig jinx.

Water color and bluebird sky perfect jig conditions to flip in my opinion

The jig bite is an awesome feeling, closest thing to it is a crappie thumping a jig, can't get enough of it, nice fish and sounds like a great day. thumb

I'm with you on that one. I bought a new setup to accommodate flipping jigs into cover. Revo rocket spooled with 40 lb power pro and a 7ft heavy action rod. Still haven't been bit yet. In time it'll come hopefully and when it does I hope she's a biggun!

I fish big the most and I have never lost a skirt? How does that happen? I loose plenty of rage craws the little

Congrats man! First jig fish is very special. My very first jig fish was 7lb 7oz from RH in Jan 1975.

It's been talked about some here this last week. Quite a few larger than average over the last couple weeks. Not East.

I agree. I've tried jigs and even got TWO jig rod/reel setups because of the supposed big fish. I have decided it's a cruel joke on me. Like the windmill on Ray Roberts.
