Have a 1/2" copper pipe that has disconnected from a T fitting in one side, can I just clean both old surfaces on the seperated area and re solder, or should I completely remove and solder a new fitting in ?

Cut back the copper to good, use straight joints to make up towards the tee with a 1/2" equal tee or solder new copper on, everything we used to use was copper, but for ease, reliability and speed we now stick John guest speedfit in place, not sure what your equivalent is, but it's by far the easiest way. We use crimp stuff now but that's stepping it up a gear or two. Hope this helps

Thanks guy, My explanation has not been the best, on a T we have an income , an outgoing and an off shoot, my only loose fitting, to be repaired, is the incoming side, I don't want to disturb the other two old solder joints, Possible ? Love the speedfits and the Shark units, however just trying a fast fix for now. In a rural area and stores are pretty far away

Yes you can but it's never a good job where you can walk away, experience has taught me rip out and do again, damp oxidised joints ain't never good to repair

If I were old enough to drink, I would just quit and drink a beer.

To answer your question, yes it can be soldered back but you have to do it right. Both areas sanded clean (do not touch the copper you sand with your hands). Make sure you have no water in the pipes. Flux the entire area and solder with at least mapgas.
