My buddy wants to go fishing at Lake Cooper, he has not been to this lake in 3-4 years and this will be the first time for me. I would appreciate any help, are the crappie still up the creaks? have they moved out into deeper water? Where would anyone suggest we fish. What baits have been catching them live bait or plastic? Thank you for your help.

A catfish guide has been posting pictures from the lake. I haven't heard any crappie reports. Based on Pat Mayse last weekend they are probably in early stages of spawn.

You don`t have to do that ! You can just go to TPWD Texas fresh water Lakes alphabetical list,click on the Lake and get the current lake level. Right now Cooper is showing it`s 100% full & 1.4' into the flood pool.If you want to know what lakes are releasing h20 go to the U.S. Army corp of Engineers Ft Worth Water Mgmt information section,click on Daily Reports ,& then click Reservoir release reports.It will show you what reservoirs are letting it rip & @ what cfs.The Cooper Tail Race area is KILLA when water is being released in the spring.One of my favorites.Crappie ,Magnum Sandies,Hybrids,Channels ,Blues ... you can catch everything. JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PLENTY BAIT! & to the forum

Cooper, Wright Patman probably don�t have any boat ramps open/and may not for a while....I heard they are releasing water as fast as they can without flooding Shreveport, which is probably not as fast as they need to...of course, the fish will be really good size next year!
