I miss the sierras so much. I grew up in Sacramento. We could be in the National Forest in 45 mins. hundreds of thousands of acres of public land. Hunting, fishing, shooting, hiking, camping. All free. All miles away from another human (if you hiked far enough in).

My brother and I would jump in my truck and drive the abandoned logging roads looking for quail and deer regularly.

I really like north texas, but I REALLY miss the public access land in NorCal.

Wife and I talked about that very thing. Sacramento really is center to so much to do. You are just a short drive from the coast, just a short drive to Tahoe and skiing, just a short drive to Clear Lake, the Delta is in your back yard and Nevada is literally just up the road. Decent to great weather and when we are there the people ad the way they love to hunt and fish reminds me a lot of North Texas. There are parts of California especially where we like to go that really is not full of all the California stereotypes at all.
One thing that really stood out at Tahoe is just how friendly and courteous everyone seemed to be. From businesses to just people you would be around it seemed everyone is so friendly there. Stopped for gas in Sacramento yesterday and it was the exact same way. That is one reason we enjoy our stays here on the coast in these smaller towns. People are very laid back and friendly. Just don't act like a [censored] tourist and people are some of the friendliest you will meet.

The next trip out that way get on the coast hiway in Oregon and follow down until you get to the redwoods. You must camp out in those giant trees and wake up just as the sun is poking through the fog or mist. Mystic sight. Then cross over to I5
And follow it north through Lake Shasta and My Shasta. At night the lights off the lake and mountain are awesome.
Northern California and Oregon coast are some of the most beautiful country in the US. I would be living there if I had not come back to Texas

Lots of them. Point Reyes as I mentioned. Just look up RV sites along Highway 1. That drive from Los Angeles to SF on Highway 1/PCH is something that should be a bucket list deal. Hard to put into words how Monterey Bay, Carmel etc look.

I agree, big sur...

Nice pics. I'm in the East Bay, Walnut Creek. I hear the bite at Clear Lake is good. I've been doing well on the Delta too. It's been a reaction bite for me, crawdad speed traps, chatter baits, blades and umbrella rigs. If you get some warm weather, you may get a couple to eat topwater.

Hopefully you got some crab, sourdough bread and clam chowder while you were in Monterey. The calamari is good too. They get it right there. Have fun and keep posting pics.

Nice, we were in that area yesterday. We went out to Pt. Reyes and spent the day hiking a bit. Snuck up on a herd of tule elk and took a few pictures. Ended the day walking across the Golden Gate Bridge and back. Fun times.
