FYI, when you take your kids fishing, be sure to get the minnows out of the live well. Been in there for a week...

Opening the garage earlier, then fishing all those little b**tards out was a game changer. LOL

I started putting them in a plastic minnow bucket then I put the minnow bucket in the livewell. Works great. Probably won't work in a lot of boats that have dinky livewells.

I was prefishing for a big tournament one summer and had a great crankbait bite going. The only problem was I was catching 5 big sandbass for every good largemouth. This went on all day, every place I stopped. I finally decided I would keep a few and clean them for a mess of fish. I ended up putting about 40 in the live wells and fished til dark. Completely forgot about them on the drive home. Got up the next morning for another 100 degree practice day, unloaded the boat and started gagging immediately. Sandbass rapidly decompose, apparently, because they were already literally in pieces. I loaded the boat back on the trailer and drove around to a place that had a fish cleaning station. I think I puked about 6 times before I got them all in the trash can.

Oh No!! I've did that but left a whole livewell full of sand bass in there for a week. It was much further along in the process than what you have. It was already decomposing fish parts and maggots. I went to a self serve carwash and stuck the vacuum hose down in there to get out all I could. barf

I see you live in TC too?

Been there. Man thats nasty. I also left a perch in mine for almost a month in Oct/Nov. I forgot to drain it. That thing was still alive after a month! Threw him in a rain barrel and kept him until it started freezing over. Turned him loose in a neighborhood pond alive and well.
