Getting a house built right now and will have a tandem 20x10 garage on the side of my house and was wondering does anyone have a boat that they store in one now and how much room do you have on the sides and how tight of a fit is it? I have measured and with the swing away tongue on the trailer it will fit but just wanted to see if anyone has been using one on a new house?

I have a g3 165 which is 16.5 ft (I think) with a standard, non-breakaway trailer and it fits in my standard two car garage with about 4-6 inches to spare so long as the trimmed up motor is backed close (but not touching) the back wall.

My garage is exactly 19'8" from the wall to where the door closes. I have my 16' Scandy White in there with a removable tongue and I have 3" between the motor and the rear wall, and 8" between the trailer and the door. My old 16' Alumacraft took up more room with a fold-able trailer tongue, I only had 2" in the back and 2" in the front. Both of my rigs have/had set back jackplates on them, but my Scandy doesn't have or need a compression plate. That compression plate added considerable length to my old rig.

Thanks guys i measured mine from front to back with the trailer down and it was 21'1' I am going to put in the removable hinge and that will bring it down to 19'1" so i will see if that will work. It is 7'8" wide on the trailer so I should be good there.
