Most of my pond LMB are very shallow right now guarding nests. A very small shallow running crankbait that looks like a BG drives them mad at this time....I guess it looks like a BG trying to invade their nests, but whatever, it is effective in muddy water.

I would try Minnows or floating worms and just let the hang in their face or a shotgun!

Don't sell out to live bait.
I landed a 23 inch long female today (didn't have my damn scale) that was still holding eggs. I watched two guys go at her with senkos, worms, and chatterbaits the day before. I didn't get involved, but went back today.
During this semi-postspawn time, I do very well with a weightless superfluke in the baby bass color. Oddly enough, she ignored watermelon and pumpkin, but as soon as "babybass" landed, she immediately started flaring her gills at it.

I would try the fluke too or small crankbaits. Use a stop and go retrieve to get a reaction strike from them - also cast parallel to the bank to keep it in the strike zone longer at this time of year. Good luck!

I'm a soft plastic guy. I'd go with a Tx Rigged wieghtless senko, fluke, or Grandebass Rattle Snake in watermellon shades. Easy to work with slight pulls and/or pop-pops then let it flutter down.

The trick is to drag something through the bed and do it until she gets aggrevated enough to hit the crud out of the lure. I use a fly like this because it sinks very slowly and gets the strikes from the action it has..

On that same line of thought, a Tiki Crawdude will do the same thing. I figure the bass thinks a crawdad is coming for the eggs. I slay em with that
