Ya Christie breaking off that 5lber and losing a 3+ cost him big time. He definitely choked it away. Yes. I agree. I really like Christie. Sad to see him get so close....twice. I was pulling for Christie. He was also beat at the Fork TTBC by Brent Ehrler in the last 45 minutes with Ehrler's 10+ pounder

What about Ehrler, 3rd in 2017, he was in tears when he weighed in this year, he did all he could and he wanted just a little more time for his decisions to play out. He's my sentimental pick from now on. Christie will get his and soon. All the congrats to Jordan Lee, even after winning the classic last year, he was in the running at TTBC and at St Clair, then this. Some are just meant to win.

Imo AOY and number of overall wins is a better indicator of how good a fisherman you are versus getting on some fish for 3 days. Is the pressure more in a classic? I guess maybe the first day but it's just another weekend and a smaller field. It's not like the rules change. Youre entitled to your opinion. But all those guys who do it at that level would argue with you. Getting on some fish for 3 days? Isnt that what they do to win a regular event? Except add an extra day. Its not like hes an over night fluke success. The dude has dominated winning more money per tournament than the great Kevin Van dam

The AOY is the best fisherman. But then guys like KVD would rather win the classic due to the $$$ connected to it. Thats their words in several interviews, not mine.

Please cite your sources for that quote sir That was said by Aaron Martens and many other fisherman on the podcast Bass Edge and obviously KVD said the second and he is the only one on the show (that I have heard) that said hed rather win the classic than the AOY. The classic makes your career, the AOY proves who is the best. Pretty cool show to listen to if you have never heard it before. Edit: I have not listened to every one of the podcasts, so there might be more that would pick the classic over the AOY. I know Id pick the classic if I were in that situation.

Statistically the chances of winning Classic is 1 in 52. Things need to work out just right to win it. You would think that Christie and Ehler both get a Classic win or two sooner or later. However Roland Martin won 9 AOY yet never won the Classic.
You can earn a AOY by just doing ok on a couple of tournaments. You either win the Classic or you don't.
Both are a different measure.

They all say the classic can make your career sponsor wise. Who?
