I was thinking of taking the Mrs down for a day trip. Are the crappie spawning yet? Any updates?

I havent heard of any yet. Bass being caught up shallow though.

First wave probably at some point next week with the masses starting in 2-3 weeks, this cold snap of the last few days pushed everything out again...

I'm going to Granbury this coming weekend. I am going to bring a rod and try by the dock, but not expecting much. I'll find this thread if I do catch anything.

Seeing a lot of dead fish on my boat ramp and dock golden algae has hit early.

Fished for 4 hours this afternoon and no crappie. Water temp was 61-62

Fished today from 12 -5 on the north end. Water temp 63-64. Caught 3 ditch pickles, 8 keeper crappie, and 2 small males. Missed several on short strikes. Color was chart/Black cherry. All crappie were blacks, which tells me we are a week or 2 out from the big move up of whites. Of the 8, 3 were females with eggs (egg sacks were small) the rest were males. Caught them all in 3 feet or less.

I fished for a little bit, nothing happening so I didn't press on. I fished just North of the square. My friend has a lake house out there and I went out there to play in a disc golf tournament, but wanted to catch some crappie. Hope it starts pretty soon. I miss the thump.
