I have a Helix 9 G1 on the console. I want to upgrade my bow to hummingbird with DI and GPS. Networking nice but not have to, what unit would be best value best performance? Thanks for opinions. You can link a Helix 7 CHIRP DI GPS G2N, any of the three versions of Helix 9 DI, Helix 10 DI, or Helix 12 DI models. Just cannot share CHIRP or MEGA frequency to the G1. They all perform the same, just display sizes are different and display pixel densities are different. You would want to exchange the included transom DI transducer for a trolling motor PUCK version.
Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 10 G3, Helix 15 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, Helix 8 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL , MEGA LIVE 2, Xplore 10

Need some help I bought a Hummingbird 596c HD and can never get clear images in DI as a matter of fact never even see tree images like in demo mode. I have gone by bridge columns and they look like thin lines large trees look the same. I have reset to factory settings and still cannot get it to show images as I would expect. Does anyone else use one and mind sharing the settings you use or any suggestions on what settings may work.

Imaging is a very thin sonar pulse front to back. The unit will only record images of stuff when the sonar pulse is passing across it-think CAT SCAN.
If you want to make stuff record larger, just increase the Chart Speed. At a minimum it should be set close to the GPS speed.
Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 10 G3, Helix 15 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, Helix 8 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL , MEGA LIVE 2, Xplore 10

The Helix 10 Di mega has the mega frequency for mega imaging and chirps all frequencies. The Helix Gen 1 does not have the mega frequencies nor chirp capabilities

Hello all,
Looking for some tips on what I screwed up!
I have 2 Lakemaster ChartSelect lakes, and before whenever I went to one it would auto select the one I was on and display it.
Now when I go to one it auto selects the base map, and even if I force it to use the right card, it will not show the chartselect contours. However, if I go to base layers I can pick the lake I am on and it works.
It is not too big of a deal since I know a work around, but I know I messed up a setting somewhere to make it work correctly and its bugging me lol
Thanks.

Just installed a Solix 12 (Had a 1198si) in my console. My 998 on my bow utilized the gps puck on the 1198 (via ethernet cable) for gps signal. I assumed it would be the same with the Solix, but I cannot get a gps signal on the 998 now. Wondering if any gurus out there could provide some information. The Solix works GREAT, difference is night and day.

The solix and the 998 will not share GPS through network. The 998 will need its own GPS receiver.

Have a helix 9 mega DI going on an ultrex. Have not installed the mega yet
If I use the transducer adapter for the one the unit came with, do I expect to get interference when the ultrex runs. I have used it in the past, but this is the first mega unit I have had.
Is it worth it to do the exchange or just use the adapter on the trolling motor and run the transom transducer.
or buy the trolling motor DI transducer to have both

or buy the trolling motor DI transducer to have both RFI is hard to predict. Just have to install and go from there. I would recommend using the trolling motor transducer as it has more rfi protection. Humminbird has come out with a new dual spectrum 2d/DI chirp transducer that is only compatible with mega units. It is a true 2d chirp transducer with the mega di element as well. It will chirp the higher frequency 140-240. This transducer is low Q which means it is more suitable for chirp units. Must have the latest update on the unit to be compatible with the new transducer. I would contact hummingbird about trading in for this transducer. https://www.humminbird.com/Products/XTM-9-MDI-T/

Thanks Haven't had any issues yet with mine. The fish id has some issues with depth reading being reversed. 18 fow it will read 81, but I don't use fish id so no problem. Having more customization of the data readouts is nice

Having more customization of the data readouts is nice There is a glitch with Chart Select Layers also with the new software. I use FishID and there are no 83 kHz FishID symbols as well as the reversed depth indications. Those will be fixed with the next update. Carefully read the update description since you will have to do two updates to have current software installed.
