My catfishing is generally in the pan-size,5 pounds and under range. What size circle hook would be about right? Also, is there any advantage to an offset point? I've been using 4/0 Eagle Claw from Wallmart, but if there is a better size and brand, I'd try it.

Circle k hook from whisker Seeker tackle will work great for that size fish. I generally use them in 8/0 but 6/0 should work well for the fish you are targeting.

When I'm targeting eaters in the spring I primarily use cheap 3/0-4/0 kahle hooks from Walmart. I use circle hooks in the winter but I'm pretty sure setting the hook on the eaters is good for the soul.

Agree

My personal best is still swimming out there just getting bigger. One of these days I will quit feeding it.

I like to set the hook myself and the Eagle Claw Plain Shank 5/0 works equally good with cut bait and live perch. I do run circle hooks on my jug lines if I have them.

Team catfish double action all day unless it's a j hook. Then it's eagle claw.

If the fish don't bite your not baiting right...

I use punch bait with a size 6 treble hook. The best ones I've found are at BassPro. Don't remember the name, but they are made in France. A silver hook that does not bend or break like others do and reasonably priced.
