I don't have a ltc yet but plan on getting one. I haven't had a pistol for very long. When I travel throughout the state I keep a pistol in the center console of my truck. Does the castle doctrine extend to boats? Can I keep a pistol on my boat when I'm on the water as long as it's kept concealed in the glove box or elsewhere?

Castle Doctrine would be a case if you were a guide and worked from your boat, in my opinion.

Sidenote: You can drink and operate a boat, but not a car in Texas.

I have been asked on Lake Lewisville, which is a Corp lake. I think he was going to try to give me a ticket or arrest me if I had a gun with me. He was being a total Richard, and only GW I have ever met that acted like an arsehole.......

Turning to the subject of vehicles, Texas Penal Code §30.01 defines a vehicle “as any device, in, on, or by which any person or property is or may be propelled, moved, or drawn in the normal course of commerce or transportation.” This is a very broad definition and appears to include anything that carries people or property from one place to another, including cars, trucks, boats, airplanes, golf carts, etc. The important point to remember is that you or someone else must be occupying the vehicle to be given the presumption of reasonableness under Texas Penal Code §9.31 and §9.32.

"Castle Doctrine" is the concept that you have no duty to retreat before a threat, and that you may meet that threat with force and/or deadly force to defend yourself or your home ("castle"). The doctrine applies broadly to cars and other places where you are reasonably in your own property (like in your place of business if you're a business owner).

It does not automatically mean that one may have a firearm in possession, although that is the context most of us think of. And of course, with an LTC, one can legally carry in most places in Texas (Federal land being one of the exceptions).

Yep, that article verifies you can not carry on a Corps lake.
