(4) knowingly sells a firearm or ammunition for a firearm to any person who has been convicted of a felony before the fifth anniversary of the later of the following dates:
(A) the person's release from confinement following conviction of the felony;  or
(B) the person's release from supervision under community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision following conviction of the felony;
Am I reading this right? A felon can have their gun rights back 5 years after completion of whatever the state deemed punishment? Surely not? What's the statute you got that from? I'm curious to read the whole thing. I just copied and pasted from chickenmans earlier post.

Huh. This looks like it says that it's legal under TEXAS law to sell a firearm to a convicted felon (in the specified circumstances). But I'm not sure that it overrides applicable Federal law. Interesting topic.
Texas Penal Code 46.06 (a) A person commits an offense if the person: (4) knowingly sells a firearm or ammunition for a firearm to any person who has been convicted of a felony before the fifth anniversary of the later of the following dates: (A) the person's release from confinement following conviction of the felony; or (B) the person's release from supervision under community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision following conviction of the felony

So my basic understanding on this is that there really isn't a clear definitive answer?? Or..maybe nobody knows for sure what the answer is?

What answer do you want? You can buy a gun from an individual with no questions or paperwork. If you buy from a Federal Firearm Licences dealer then you fill out a question air that is decked out by the FBI, after a waiting period you can buy a gun and the sale is recorded.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.... W.C.Fields

So that's the legal above board way to do it? I know there's many many ways to illegally get guns..heck I can do it here in the next town to me 3mile away, all's I was trying to find out was how easy it was to legally get my hands on a gun (if I was a US citizen) been some pretty interesting answers I reckon

We have a mix of State and Federal laws in the USA. In some States you have to buy and sell guns at a store to get them registered. If I have a gun shipped to me it has to go through someone who has a Federal Firearms License (FFL) and the transaction is registered. The current push in our legislative bodies is to make the entire USA more like California.

California have stricter laws regarding hand weapons? They are imposing more and more restrictions to the point that the gun you own is becoming illegal year by year. https://oag.ca.gov/firearms

California have stricter laws regarding hand weapons? All of the areas that have terrible homicide rates have much stricter gun laws. It would be laughable that they keep pushing the same thing nationwide if it wasn't so tragic.

California have stricter laws regarding hand weapons? Yes. Laws vary by state. I can open carry in Alabama (and Texas). Try that in New York and you are given a felony conviction as your prize.

"It would not be necessary at that point to "hold him" with a weapon till the police arrived. Either he would be down, or I would be. But again, this depends on which state you're in. Texas recognizes the inalienable human right to defend one's home against an intruder."
That right isn't exclusive to Texas. Pretty much world wide I'd guess.
