I will try to make this as short as possible. I recently bought a 1999 champion 193 with a 1999 optimax 200. When I first took it out it was really sluggish getting out of the water so I replaced the spark plugs $$$$$$ and used a fuel injection cleaner in the gas. It really seemed to help and the more I ran it the better it got. Last night I fished in a small tourny and had the livewells full and had my partner in the boat and it would barely plain out. Frustrating!!! I also noticed that if I give it too much throttle the engine will vibrate and not take off at all. If I put it back in neutral and rev it a little and then take off it is better. I guess what I am saying is it seems like it does not have enouph power to take off with full live-wells and two people in the boat. The top end is great, it GPS's at around 69. Can anyone please help, I really need this boat to perform. Thanks.

what prop you got on there?

if it's a tempest or trophy plus. try removing some of the pvs plugs on the barrell. That will allow the prop to ventilate some. the rpms will be higher on take off to help speed up the prop.

that should do the trick.

Steve, thanks for the tip. I will be fishing a tournament on Fork this weekend. The previous owner put some real nice dings in the prop and I am interested in getting it repaired or replaced. It is a 25p tempest, has the champion logo on it. Where are you located?

I'm on hwy 17 just south of the lake fork marina.

get yourself a flat tip screwdriver and pry out 2 of the plugs. see if that helps the holeshot.
