I had the 806 but I could never get comfortable with the length.

I agree. I only very rarely throw a 10xd so I don't want a rod dedicated for only that, just something I could use in a pinch if I needed it.

I had Reel time rods make me a deep cranking rod and I love it. It is great for the 5XD and 6XD. It isn't as good for a 10XD but will get the job done.

I've never been in a boat with somebody that can throw a 5XD to an 8XD farther than I can with my Abu Garcia Veracity 7'11 paired with a Revo Winch. Will chunk those baits a mile. Never thrown a 10XD, but it handles an 8XD with no problem.

All Star Big Crainkbait rod. I use mine for 6XD 8XD and 10XD think I paid less than $100 for it at Academy and love it. Throws a mile and with the Revo Winch I can wind the big cranks all day

Well who have you been up against and what equipment were they using? That makes a huge difference. I can get some pretty good distance out of my Daiwa Tatula CT and my 7-11 Duckett Micro Magic as well. I would be up for a fun casting contest...

I have thrown the 10 on the Duckett but only for a couple of casts because it really isn't designed for a bait that heavy.
The Dobyns 806 is better for the 10 XD.

I know this has nothing to do with rods and reels but I don't want to have two forums I created on the front page but what size treble hooks do you guys recommend for Deep Diving cranks? I'm getting those Storm Arashi 25's on TW because they are on closeout and I know a lot of people around here don't use these cranks as opposed to H2O Express cranks or 10XD's. Heard the hooks that are on the Arashi's aren't very good.

Depends on the length of the crankbait and type of hooks used. I like either a number 2 or number 1, sometimes a 1/0. But those 1/0 trebles are huge.

Don't laugh but my Berkley hybrid glass Cherrywood works for me. I'm looking to get the new St. Croix glass cranking rod.
