Wife and I are married 35 years in July....we both want to do a fly in trip up in Canada. Went to the Safari Club Show and there are tons of outfitters who all are "world class".

Any of you been to Canada? If you did, would you share which outfitter and a little about your experience?

That lodge looks pretty awesome, and the way to do it. I forget who we used, but we flew into Eli Minnesota when I was in high school, did a week or so canoe/camp/fish trip up there, and crossed into Canada a few times. Its about as remote as you can get, incredible fishing. Alot of the lakes we were on were restricted to either no gas outboards, or under 25hp. I'd go back in a second. Should be a trip of a lifetime.

Of all the times over the decades of heading north, the only time to ever use an outfitter, we used Wilderness Air out of Vermillion Bay, Ontario. We flew into Wasa Lake. Luckily, I have cousins that are guides along with a lot of other family members that live in Ignace so we never had to fly in anywhere. That trip was a spur of the moment booking since we had only gone up there to spread Ma's ashes.

Not quite adequate we used 100% deet oil messy but effective. I went to the attached Dolphins Resort North twice years ago for salmon fishing. Great time company paid for trip very expensive but you are treated very well. This is a fly into Vancouver than fly further north to Prince Rupert then float plane to the lodge. Chef cooks all meals even bring you lunch when fishing. Pretty extravagant trip probably not one I would do on my dime but it was great I caught a 34 lb Chinook (King) salmon like 15 minutes into the trip then more Coho than I kept count and even a 14 lb Chum. All on single action knuckle buster reels heaps of fun.

Dolphins North Resort

Depends on what you are fishing for, but do some research on Rowan Lake Lodge in Ontario. You can fish for both Large and Smallmouth bass, Trout, Walleye, Musky and Pike.

Wollaston is known for monster Pike, but you pay the price. If that is affordable, then I have heard that is a tremendous place to go.

There are a ton of fly-in options in Ontario. Spend some time and do some research.

i spent a week at Rainy Lake , probably more American than Canadian, but its full of smallmouth , walleye, and pike. I;ll never forget one morning throwing topwaters to the edge of the reeds in shallow bays & the pike would launch outta there like a torpedo, the most vicious strikes ever, if you clean pike right it tastes every bit as good as walleye,

If you are looking for a remote trip, we go with Amik Outposts out of Red Lake, ON. Fishing is phenominal for walleye and pike in all of their lakes, and most of their outposts are the only cabin on the lake, so you have miles and miles of lake all to yourself.
