Planning a trip up there in August. Have any of you fishermen stayed at Rose's Trout Dock or Sportsman Resort or any other camp? There's 5 of us going and we want to stay right on the river. Any help would be appreciated. This is a special trip. My Dad made several trips up there. My Dad took me up there in 1970 when I got back from Viet Nam. He passed on last month. Now 48 yrs. later my 3 sons, my nephew, and myself are going recreate that trip and leave a few of his ashes in the river. Any help would be appreciated. Also I'll be using the Mitchell 300 and the Zebco 33 he used on all his trips.

I've stayed at all of them at one point or another, but there's a newer one closer to NorFork that looked really nice. We've stayed at Genes the most. If you're drifting with bait you will catch a ton of fish. Some good fly fishing up there as well.

It is hard to beat Gastons, but it can be pricy. We have stayed the last couple of times at Genes on the Norfolk River because the brown trout fishing was better there. They are all very close. Best restaurant we found was the 187 Club. Really good food at all price levels. Nice bar also.

Been twice but stayed at a condo and i cant remember the name. Drifting we caught well in excess of 200 fish a day per boat, granted many are smallish but enough were keepers for a fantastic shore lunch. Great time, have fun

I've spent many nights at Fulton's Blue Ribbon Lodge, which is now Cranor's Blue Ribbon, right on the water, nice boats. I've also stayed at Rim Shoals.

I like to use clear or green 4 or 6 lb. line, my favorite lures are Rooster Tail spinners and Panther Martin spinners. I usually use 1/8 oz. size. For faster or deeper water, the 1/6 oz. size is better and runs deeper. Fish the Rooster Tails real slow, just enough to keep the blade turning. I usually cast perpendicular to the current, and let the current sweep the lure down while reeling it in. The water is very clear, you can follow your lure all the way or watch trout hit it.

The best patterns for Rooster Tails I've found is Yellow Coachdog (YCLD), that's my go-to spinner. The other ones are black body with a gold blade, and a bright yellow one.Rapalas and Blue Fox Minnow Spins also work. I mash the barbs on the hooks down.

For bait fishing, you can use Power Bait, a piece of corn under a float, or worms. Lots of guys in boats drift corn or worms.

I would recommend a guide if it's your first time there. Handy things to have if you wade or walk the banka landing net, a pair of hemostats to remove the hooks, I wear a fishing vest and carry some small boxes of lures in the pockets.

Primo spots I like to fish are Three Shoots, The Narrows, Hurst, Roundhouse Shoal, and Rim Shoals.

Spinners I favor and The Narrows:

Years ago I hired a guide in Eureka Springs and we had a blast, my wife and I. Well worth the money. Caught some browns and rainbows. The small countdown Rapala and Little Cleo spoons worked quite well when I went way back in the late 70s. Have fun.

Anyone fish these up there, we used to hammer the trout in Colorado with these Colorado spinners, to the point we started making them ourselves

Rim Shoals in Gassville right in between Flippin and Mountain Home is where we stay every year. Nice, quiet and cheap and has all the accommodations you need. Look up their website

Btw, sorry for your loss. My father wants to be cremated and his ashes spread in the White River also, so one day I'll be making the same trip.
