It will be similar to the Lowrance. The 74cv will have coastal maps loaded so you will have to buy a Garmin Lakevu mapping card to get lake maps.

The Lowrance will have lake maps already loaded and can take a Navionics or cmap card

I think they still have about the same quality. Id probably take a look at the Lowrance Hook2 7 with Tripleshot transducer. $600 and includes gps, with maps built in, sonar, downscan and side-scan. This is a 2018 model, the garmin 74sv has been discontinured. It was replaced by the echomap plus 74sv. The Lowrance Hook2 is also very easy to operate and has better mapping options if you dont like the maps built in.

Well it was a good deal. 480 out the door. Costs 599 and came with a free 150$ lake vu card. i will give it a try, take it back if i dont care for it. i really liked how you remove the unit. seems most units come out with the same stuff basically in my price range.

took it out today. WAY different than my Humminbird. too many settings, well just not use to all of them. the box and everything says it is 800 htz but all i could see was 455. maybe i am doing something wrong. one thing i did like is a saw arches. my bird did not produce arches. My main fish finder in Humminbird 9 KVD helix with HD transducer. it is crazy but the transducer costs 600$ to replace it is a need a new one.
