Posted this on another forum but didn't get much response so I figured I'd try my luck here...

I have very limited experience with these baits but I'm looking to start throwing them more. There is little to no grass where I fish but there are a ton of lily pads. I fish mostly docks with some rocky/woody bank beating thrown in.



Do they work well around docks?



I've thrown them in the pads a bit but it's a strange feeling because i feel like I'm fishing it wrong. I'm throwing them on a weighted swimbait hook. I'll let it sink and start reeling slowly but I can't keep it down in the pads because it rides up the stems and over the top of the pads. Am I doing something wrong or is that just what happens?

Great baits and they will catch fish in a variety of settings. I like to fish them on an under spin. I also like them as a trailer on a swim jig. They have great action at any speed retrieve but they will run to the top with an elevated rod and a fast retrieve. I just wish they were more durable and cheaper.

They will catch fish any way you rig them around any type of cover. 3.3� is my favorite

I fish them on a light jig head, on a medium spinning rod with the tip low and a slow retrieve.

I catch big numbers of 1-3lb bass. The big girls don't seem to bite.

Try using a heavier swimbait hook. They're so versatile it's impossible to find a way that doesn't work.

Keitech paddletails come in a variety of sizes from 2.8 to 7.8 inches in a complete array of color choices. As others have stated they can be rigged many different ways. If you want to fish them deeper use a larger profile version with Beast 8/0 to 10/0 ballast weighted hooks or a 3/4 to 1 oz swimjig head...you'll be able to swim them as deep as you'd like.

Very good bait. I usually fish them on a weighted hook with a spinner. They will work anywhere.

Don't give up on the swimbaits. The Owner Flashy Swimmer helps more often than not in my opinion. I rarely throw any swimbaits without some weight, preferring to get the bait down in the pads. When the bass are suspended in the timber they are great too. I personally don't throw them where there is no cover. Think they'll be working a lot better in the next couple of weeks.

I agree with Iconn4 that we are still a few weeks/months out. Bass just aren't chasing many things right now, have us hunkered down using finesse presentations off the bottom: Ned Rigs, Drop Shots, etc.

If you have pads, what I like best is to throw down the long edge of pads for any bass that are sort of lying in wait along it to ambush. This should be weightless as the water lily pads grow in is shallow. If they aren't there, but back deeper in the pads, just toss them on top, let them sit for a second, then drag them off into open water to another pad. Bass sitting underneath can feel their presence, see shadows, and will often grab them as they appear to be swimming from one to the next. Sort of like top water frogs.

There are no better plastics, none that I have found, than Keitechs. I prefer the Easy Shiners.

T-rigged these in a 5.8'' last spring on RR around willows and the fish ate em
