When I turned 55, I told my wife I am having my mid-life crisis. My choices were, 1. Younger wife 2. Corvette 3. Motorcycle.
She said better go with #3, I couldn't afford 1 and 2.

It's taken me almost 40 years to get mine trained. I don't have the time or patience to start training another one, so I guess I'll keep the one I have.

I've never been married, but I'm aware of "life" to know the answer to the question is a big fat "Yes."
Apparently, new batteries simply will not cut it. Once they/wife go bad, you either decide to keep using the bad one, put it in the attic and forget it knowing it has a life of its own, or get that replacement, hoping the batteries will last longer than the previous ones.
...------ With all the battery talk I thought you had it pegged but after contemplating all you wrote, you missed the most important thing. She can buy new batteries so she only needs you to mow the lawn and after a point, you get so fed up with in that you start buying the batteries so she will leave you alone entirely.
