My neighbors chickens are loose in more than one context. But our dog Barney seems to be okay with it.

My neighbor calls himself an animal lover and "rescues" dogs all the time.

Then all dogs but 1 spends all day inside in a crate. The one dog lucky enough to not spend all day in a crate gets to spend all day and night outside on a 10' chain because all of them jump his brick fence.

Literally watched his mom have to drag one of the dogs out the house last night as it was his turn to spend the night/day outside.

They bark/whine all night long, which then drives my dog nuts.

I had a neighbor with large dogs like that. The young couple had an active night life and would sometimes be gone for a couple of days regularly. First, I like dogs and don't mind some barking from time to time...it's what dogs do. However, these dogs would bark all day and all night at absolutely nothing. Everybody elses dogs are mostly quiet...but these two....!

One evening I figured if I was going to listen to these dogs make noise all night that I would make the noise sound like something was actually getting done. So I grabbed my push mower, placed it at the fence line with the exhaust facing the dogs, taped the safety to the handle and then fired that baby up. I left it there for days and nights refilling with fuel when the mower went silent. The neighbors got the idea and started to address the dogs when the barking started as well as started boarding them when out of town. Worked like a champ.

Annoy the neighbors with something louder. The best thing I found is a #1200 Thunderpower megaphone.
The siren function on this dude is loud enough to rattle tooth fillings. If this doesn't work, use the microphone at 3AM to tell them to come out with their hands up . Best of all, you can hook the megaphone up to a tape recorder, and entertain everyone with early morning catfights. I'm looking forward to taking mine to the lake this summer, and playing back some bigfoot sounds I recorded off YouTube.

I do it with two open piped bikes and Hemi Magnum with a free exhaust.

I have an audio system I can control from any phone or computer, a music server, and a pair of outdoor speakers on the back porch. I found an audio file that's a very high pitched tone like is what's used on those mosquito-away things. Lots of people can't hear it at all, especially older folks.

If my dogs bark and don't stop within about 20 seconds, I crank up that tone. They come running through the dog door like their tails are on fire. Sometimes one of them will get to barking and the other one heads inside because she knows the tone is coming.

Unfortunately the speakers are far away enough that it doesn't affect the neighbor's dog when he starts up. I need another speaker on the side of my house pointed over to their back yard to tone him also.
