last night I had a dream about float fishing for aligator gar...is that strange?!...I caught 2 and lost 1...in my dream...the biggest I caught was 327lbs don't ask me how I remember that....I keep thinking about these fish...and can't help but think a LSCB a-gar trip should be in the planning....anyone else have this fish haunting there thoughts...

I'm dying to catch a big gator gar too. I was hoping to find somewhere to throw a fly at one. Haven't found any gator gar sight fishing chances yet...

I plan to go after em in the yak. Been reading gar fishing forums and bowfin fishing forums... It'll happen soon. I want gator, longnose or spot.

The trinity has plenty of gar. You'll see less gator gar at most spots, but there are gator gar havens as well. If you wait about a month or so and take a canoe or kayak down the river, you'll find your spots.

The trinity has plenty of gar. You'll see less gator gar at most spots, but there are gator gar havens as well. If you wait about a month or so and take a canoe or kayak down the river, you'll find your spots. Man,you are going to have to be WAY more specific than that.... maybe you could PM me a put in place or something if it's a secret... but with so many sections and forks of the Trinity, and the fact that it flows all the way to the Gulf, well.... I'm dying to get a sight cast opportunity to gator gar on fly. Problem is seeing them. I see millions of spots and hundreds of longnose this time of year but never a gator. Well, there was this one time, on Grapevine, and I caught her, but she wiggled off while I was holding the leader to get a boga grip to weigh her I wanna repeat!

Let me know whan you really want to catch big (I mean big) gar. I would post some photos of some but you guys would reprimand me. It is amazing when they surface on Lake Falcon in huge schools in the summer.
