After my first fly fishing adventure in Colorado months ago, I decided to get into fly fishing. Fortunately, I can walk to the Perdernanlis River from our place outside of Fredericksburg and so it is easy to start my fly fishing journey. Caught 3 nice largemouth bass on a Wooly Bugger with cone head pattern today. It was in the mid 50's and very overcast so I was surprised on the three hits I had.

What a huge advantage being that close to good fishable waters.

One of the things about fly fishing our local waters is that not a lot of people do it. Fish see a wide array of spinners, plastics, etc. from the artificial anglers, but don't see a lot of flys. This can be a significant advantage on fish like the LMB.

Woolly buggers are hard for fish to turn down. The bugger must be suggestive of a lot of prey species. Im not sure what it looks like.

Every once in a while, Ill see something about people not considering a woolly bugger a fly. Ive never seen why they say that. A lot of fly patterns are suggestive rather than imitative.

Very nice! I love the Fredericksburg area. I need to get down there and shoot another video.

I haven't checked the fly fishing section for awhile. Have you posted any vids lately?

Nice fish and welcome to the sport. There isn't a fish that swims in freshwater that won't bite an olive woolly bugger.

I hav'nt posted any since "Bridgeport Bluegills". I do have four other videos i have been editing over the winter. I'd like to finish up two or three of them (one is finished) and then start posting about one a month thru the summer. We'll see how it works out. Thanks for the interest.

get some deceivers and clouser minnows.
I fish deceivers with no weigh so the hook brings it down slowly. Bass will hit it for sure in the spring and summer.
