I fished the surf/ shoreline between Cancun & Playa Del Carmen. Caught several species on small jigs. Actually sight cast to large trigger fish and had a blast catching them on ultralight spinning tackle. Any of the creeks/entrances from the bays to the open water have snook in them. Not easy to catch but they are there for sure. You can also take the ferry to Cozemel (spelling) and use a guide to fish for bonefish..Or fish the Lagoon behind Cancun for Tarpon, snook and host of other species. Lots of good water. Pick your poison and go for it. I always take a pack rod and light spinning reel and have a blast. Note: Clear water. Small crappie size jigs with light color tails will keep your line tight if you don't mind catching triggers act on the water front. Tight lines 1Fisher77316 Mike
