The wind and cold had me abandon my plans for Wheeler Branch a couple weeks ago, so I'm going to try it again this Friday, 2/9. Anyone interested in joining? Really good time for the walleye right now while they are shallow. They can be caught in the summer but have to get deep real deep. Glad they are still putting some in excellent if not the tastiest freshwater fish I�ve ever eaten!! They should be 10-17fow right now so very accessible.

If you do get a few make sure to cut out the scallop shaped piece of meat from the cheeks. It actually has about the same texture as scallops and is amazing saut�ed with a little bit of garlic butter and lemon. Still trying to break the 6 pound mark out there but have caught a lot from 3 1/2 to 5 pounds. Really great smallmouth in there as well.

How big was that smallie. How you catching the walleyes?

Smallmouth was just over two not big by any means but a very beautiful specimen. Walleye Right now look close to rock should be looking to spawn(successfully or not). Small frame cranks that can get down to 8-16fow on a long cast parallel to structure. Citrus shad,sexy Shad,craw,and Rapala with purple in it have been best. In the heat need to stroll cranks down to 25-30 fow. I�ve done well getting them down with dipsy divers and basically putting the crank ona c-rig with a lot of tungsten 3ft in front. Put a lot of time in on that lake just haven�t been in several months now. Ready to get back great time of year out there if you can wait 20 seconds between jerks. Smallmouth can�t take it in the clear water. Do best from island past the humps then across to the deep point in the back. Not sharing anything on lmb though
