HAVE ANY OF YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT FAIRFIELD BEEN THERE? CAN YOU READ?
There is a BIG SIGN at the gate. The lake has been sold to the city. It is gonna EVENTUALLY be turned into a water treatment lake and the property next to it is gonna be a treatment plant.
What city has purchased the lake?
I was under the impression that the city of Fairfield bought the land next to the lake, but it could possibly be a different city. You live there according to your signature.....go find out for me.

So much drama and butt hurt over the power plant lakes shutting down, you'd think it's impossible to catch fish after November in Texas...

I hate clean air... Damn Obama. Yeah, luckily Obama invented it. We were never able to breathe in East Texas until he came along. I'll never forget shortly after his inauguration when I got to take off my gas mask for the first time.

Q: is it for drinking water or sewer water? If it's for drinking I don't see why they'd close it or lower the level. Unless it cost to much to pull from the river as stated before. If it's sewer not sure I'd want to fish in it.

I do live in Fairfield. City of Fairfield is not going to purchase the lake, we are not financially able to take on that debt, and nobody has offered to give the property to the city as of yet. Big Brown was our biggest tax payer at $8,000,000 annually and our mineral taxes are really low with the gas wells about played out. City of Fairfield does not need to turn the lake into a water treatment lake, Fairfield is on Well water and has a agreement with Tarrant county to take water from Richland Chambers if and when ever needed. We already have a modern water treatment plant and sewer plant for the town. The state has no plans to shut down the park. There has been a lot of improvements done to the campgrounds and a new vendor will be there this summer renting out kayaks and paddle boards. A kidfish tournament is planned for the spring and other events already planned for the park. As far as who will own the Big Brown site and lake has not been determined as of yet, that is up to Luminant. There is over 40,000 acres of land owned by Luminant, adjacent and near the plant. The big question is who will control the flood gates or will they just open them and draw the lake down, that is still not been resolved. A small work crew will still be onsite for years to come unless everything is sold to new owners. It will take years to cover the coal pits up and 10 plus years after that before the land can be sectioned off and sold the public. I will post up any news as it become available.

So much drama and butt hurt over the power plant lakes shutting down, you'd think it's impossible to catch fish after November in Texas... I don't think anyone said you can't catch fish in cold water. The idea is that for people who just like to go out and catch fish they will get a lot more bites in power plant lakes when water temperatures everywhere else are between 39 and 50 degrees. Media has held three tournaments on Palestine the last three weeks. Here are the stats: January 20 - Teams - Entries...58...Limits...4...Zeroes...23 January 27 - Individual - Entries...53...Limits...9...Zeroes...18 February 3 - Teams - Entries...60...Limits...20...Zeroes...12 Out of 171 entries, there have been 33 limits...about one for every five teams. There have been 53 zeroes. And these aren't just guys who showed up on Saturday morning to go fishing with their kids, these are tournament fishermen who mostly put in a fair amount of time prefishing. On the same day that Media opened its teams season on Palestine, January 20, Fishers of Men held a team tournament on Martin Creek. Out of 38 teams they had 20 limits and 5 zeroes. 7% limits cold water lake. 53% limits power plant lake. 40% zeroes cold water lake. 13% zeroes hot water lake. Not everyone wants to go out and grind for seven or eight hours fishing for a bite or three hoping he catches a big one. A lot of people like to go somewhere and fish for active fish and get bites. But...I'm sure we really all know that.
